Moulin Rouge
On July 10, 2018, the Colonial reopened its doors with the first EVER performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
Inspired by the popular film by Baz Luhrmann, Moulin Rouge! The Musical tells the story of Christian, a young composer, who falls in love with cabaret actress Satine, who is the star of the Moulin Rouge, all set to pop music.
The Boston pre-Broadway tryout starred Aaron Tveit as Christian, KO as Satine, Danny Burstein as Harold Zidler, Tam Mutu as The Duke, Sahr Ngaujah as Toulouse-Lautrec, and Robyn Hurder as Nini.
Moulin Rogue! The Musical transferred to Broadway in the summer of 2019, and went on to win 10 Tony Awards, including best musical, best choreography and best direction of a musical.
